Our work together will be active, collaborative, and personalized to you.
In some ways, counseling is like going on a long road trip together. You’re in the driver’s seat— you get to decide how fast you drive, where you’re headed, and how you’ll get there. I’m in the passenger seat as a helpful, kind, and patient navigator— one who might help you decide where to go, gently point out when you’ve gone off course (or stopped altogether), and who can also help you notice and enjoy what is happening along the way. I view any mental health journey as an active collaboration, with both of us doing our part to help you get to where you want to be.

What does counseling look like?
Sessions last 45-50 minutes and are typically at the same time and day each week, although we can also be flexible. Some people come to counseling for just a few weeks or months, while others find that open-ended counseling allows them the time and space to explore multiple issues. I offer sessions both virtually and in person, and it’s okay to always come in person, always come virtually, or to switch it up as needed.
Counseling is about creating a safe, welcoming environment for you to talk about and explore issues, ideas, or feelings that you don’t want to – or aren’t able to – talk about in your day-to-day life. You might use our time together to target specific problems or for general support. Or, you might use counseling as a way to discover more about yourself and to uncover and explore deeper patterns of thinking, feeling, and interacting with others to become the best possible version of you.
